Nizhny Novgorod's Chkalov Airport marked its 10th anniversary with special promotions and souvenirs for travellers. The milestone highlights a decade of growth since the modern passenger terminal opened in late March 2016. Originally designed to handle both business and tourist traffic, the hub has become a key part of the region's transport network. The terminal launched in 2016 with cutting-edge technology to improve efficiency and passenger comfort. Over the years, its infrastructure has stayed up to date, meeting evolving industry demands.

Passenger numbers rose sharply after the new terminal opened, climbing from around 1.8 million annually to between 3 and 4 million by 2019. Growth paused during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the airport expanded international routes to Europe, Central Asia, and beyond. However, geopolitical tensions and aviation sanctions later affected service frequencies and airline operations. To celebrate the anniversary, the airport honoured staff contributions to its development. The event also featured limited-edition memorabilia for travellers, recognising the terminal's role in connecting the region.

The airport now serves multiple destinations, supporting both local and international travel. Its modern facilities and expanded route network have strengthened its position in the transport sector. The anniversary events underscored a decade of progress, despite recent challenges in global aviation.
