Liebherr invests €100M in a cutting-edge French production hub by 2028

Liebherr has announced a major investment in a new production facility in Nambsheim, France. The project will cost over €100 million and is set to create more than 200 jobs. The plant is scheduled to open in early 2028. Liebherr has operated in France since 1961, with its original base in Colmar. Today, the company employs around 5,000 people across the country. The new Nambsheim site will focus on producing up to 10,000 cabs annually.

The facility is designed to meet high environmental and energy standards, aiming for BREEAM certification. It will serve as a high-performance, sustainable production hub in central Europe. Sébastien Seitz, Managing Director of Production at Liebherr-France SAS, highlighted the company’s long-term commitment to the region.

Franck Leroy, President of the Grand Est region, has pledged at least €1 million in funding to support the project. The investment reflects the region’s backing for sustainable industrial development. The new plant will strengthen Liebherr’s presence in France. It will introduce advanced, eco-friendly production methods and boost local employment. Operations are expected to commence in early 2028.
