Nizhny Novgorod cracks down on unsafe e-scooter riding with fines

Traffic police and the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate in Nizhny Novgorod carried out a joint operation to enforce road safety rules for e-scooter riders. The initiative aimed to address common violations and promote safer behaviour among riders in the city. During the operation, officers issued six administrative citations. The most frequent offences included failing to dismount at pedestrian crossings, carrying passengers on single-rider e-scooters, and travelling outside designated bike lanes.

Representatives from TsODD also participated by distributing more than 100 informational leaflets and brochures. These materials provided guidance on safe e-scooter use and highlighted the importance of following traffic regulations. Each violation will result in a fine of 800 rubles for the offenders. The operation sought to improve compliance with road safety rules and reduce risks for both riders and pedestrians in Nizhny Novgorod.
