Public Transportation Routes in Arzamas Gradually Switch to Fare-Free System

Arzamas phases out bus conductors with new fare terminals

Arzamas is moving towards a system where public transport operates without conductors. The city has already introduced new payment terminals on some buses. Fare inspectors will soon start checking tickets to ensure compliance with the rules. Fifteen buses in Arzamas now have fixed terminals for fare collection. By the end of July, ten more will receive the same equipment. This change supports the shift away from conductors on public transport.

Passengers must pay their fares correctly to avoid penalties. Riding without a valid ticket carries a fine of 1,000 rubles. Using another person’s discounted transport card results in a higher penalty of 2,000 rubles. The city is preparing for a full transition to conductor-free buses. Inspectors will enforce the payment system to maintain order. These measures aim to streamline public transport while ensuring fair use for all passengers.
