Sharjah unveils Dh750m road projects to boost Dubai connectivity

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, has announced major road projects to improve connections between Sharjah and Dubai. The schemes, costing Dh750 million, aim to enhance travel and support economic growth in the region. The plans include a new tunnel to ease traffic between Sharjah and Dubai and reduce congestion at Al Taawun Roundabout. Engineers discovered that the foundations of the Al Taawun Roundabout Monument conflicted with the tunnel’s design, so the monument will be temporarily removed and reinstated once work finishes.

Another key part of the project is Noor Road, which runs from Al Orooba Street towards Dubai. This road is set to open by the end of the year. The developments will also provide direct access to Expo Centre Sharjah and open a vital corridor between the two emirates.

Sheikh Sultan stated that the investment will benefit all residents and visitors. He emphasised Sharjah’s commitment to welcoming neighbours and boosting regional connectivity. The projects are expected to improve travel and strengthen ties between Sharjah and Dubai. They will also grant Sharjah greater openness and support its economic and social development. The total investment for these works stands at Dh750 million.
