Russia's vodka and chocolate exports surge in India's 2026 trade boom

India imported $1.5 million worth of hard liquor in April 2026. Vodka remained a key part of these purchases, with several countries competing for market share. Sweden led the vodka suppliers to India that month, recording $600,000 in sales. France followed closely with $480,000, making it the second-largest supplier. Singapore ranked third, with $190,000 in sales.

Russia saw a significant rise in its vodka exports to India. Its sales reached $50,000, a 1.7-fold increase compared to April 2025. This growth pushed Russia from tenth to fourth place among suppliers, overtaking the Netherlands, which sold $40,000.

Beyond vodka, Russia also expanded its chocolate exports. From January to April 2026, it shipped $304 million worth of chocolate confectionery, a 17% rise over the same period in 2025. Russia’s vodka sales to India grew sharply, placing it among the top suppliers. Its chocolate exports also increased, reflecting broader trade expansion in early 2026. The data highlights shifting import patterns in India’s beverage and confectionery markets.
