H55 Delivers First Certified Battery Modules for Hybrid-Electric Flight Demonstrator
H55 has delivered its first production-conforming propulsion battery modules to Pratt & Whitney Canada. These will be used in the RTX Hybrid-Electric Flight Demonstrator. The delivery marks a significant step for hybrid-electric aviation technology. H55 developed its battery architecture specifically for electric and hybrid-electric propulsion certification. The company has now completed all required propulsion battery certification testing for regulators. The modules were manufactured in an approved facility, not as prototypes but as production-ready systems.
This delivery is the first of its kind for H55, supporting an active aerospace integration and flight-test programme. The company has already logged over 2,000 flight hours across various aircraft programmes without any battery-related incidents.
Jean Thomassin, Executive Director at Pratt & Whitney Canada, highlighted H55’s capability to produce aviation-grade battery systems under strict certification and production standards. The battery modules will help demonstrate hybrid-electric technology in flight. Their use in the RTX programme confirms H55’s progress in meeting aerospace certification demands. The delivery also reinforces the reliability of its systems in real-world aviation applications.
