Sakhaenergo powers up 69 new Arctic facilities in Yakutia's remote north
Sakhaenergo JSC has connected 69 new facilities to the power grid in Yakutia’s Arctic and northern districts during the first half of 2026. The company also constructed and upgraded over 1,100 km of overhead power lines to support the expansion. These efforts bring electricity to remote and hard-to-reach regions of the area. The work took place across nine districts: Anabarsky, Allaikhovsky, Verkhoyansky, Zhigansky, Ust-Yansky, Oymyakonsky, Verkhnekolymsky, Srednekolymsky, and Kobyaysky. Sakhaenergo installed three packaged transformer substations with a total capacity of 0.81 MVA. The newly connected facilities have a combined capacity of 1.047 MW.
Major projects included a trade and logistics centre in Chokurdakh and multi-unit residential buildings in Saskylakh, Oymyakon, and Orto-Balagan. A paramedic-obstetric station in Barylakh and a medical clinic in Kazachye were also connected. Temporary power was set up in Kobyay to assist with preparations for the Ysyakh Olonkho festival.
Sakhaenergo JSC, a subsidiary of Yakutskenergo PJSC, specialises in supplying power to consumers in Yakutia’s most isolated areas. Those seeking grid connections can apply at local branches or online through the company’s website at tp.sakhaenergo.ru. The upgrades and new connections extend reliable power to key infrastructure in the region. The projects improve access to electricity for residents, businesses, and essential services across Yakutia’s northern communities.
