Kazakhstan races to upgrade gas pipelines before winter 2026–2027
QazaqGaz JSC is preparing Kazakhstan’s gas pipeline network for the upcoming 2026–2027 autumn-winter period. The company aims to ensure a reliable and safe gas supply for consumers during the heating season. Preparations are underway across multiple regions, including Atyrau and West Kazakhstan. Abzal Kisimetov, Deputy Chairman of the Board for Production at QazaqGaz JSC, recently inspected the readiness efforts in Atyrau and West Kazakhstan. Intergas Central Asia JSC, a subsidiary of QazaqGaz Group, is leading the work to guarantee uninterrupted gas transit.
Nationwide, about 40% of all planned winter readiness measures have been completed. Repair work is progressing, with 45% of scheduled tasks finished, including 103 out of 461 pipeline defects addressed. Half of the eight major production site projects have also been finalised.
In West Kazakhstan, QazaqGaz Aimaq’s local branch is maintaining over 10,500 kilometres of gas distribution networks. Modernisation of the Central Asia–Center gas transport system is ongoing, with 67% of defect elimination completed on the SAC-5 and SAC-4 Loop pipelines. All repair and modernisation work is set to finish by the end of August. The company remains on track to complete all necessary upgrades and repairs before the heating season begins. These efforts will help secure a stable gas supply for consumers across Kazakhstan. The work involves both local branches and key subsidiaries of QazaqGaz Group.
