Authorities push for stricter traffic rules to protect children and pedestrians

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has urged all road users to follow traffic regulations more strictly. A press secretary for the ministry highlighted the need for shared responsibility in preventing accidents. Special emphasis was placed on protecting children near roads. Current traffic laws already ban parking or stopping on flower beds, lawns, children’s playgrounds, and sports grounds. No new restrictions on parking in residential courtyards will begin on 1 July 2026, as existing rules remain in place.

The ministry reminded the public that playing on or near roadways is forbidden due to safety hazards. Parents and guardians were advised to supervise children more closely and teach them safe behaviour around traffic. Road users were also encouraged to act with caution and mutual respect. The call for collective action aims to reduce traffic incidents. Compliance with current regulations is expected to improve safety for all. Authorities stress that vigilance and cooperation are key to preventing harm on the roads.
