Russia’s State Duma elections will take place on 20 September 2026. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) has named Ayaan Vasilyev as its candidate for the single-mandate seat representing the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The region forms part of the 14th territorial group, alongside Irkutsk and Magadan Oblasts. The CPRF has also revealed its regional list of candidates from Yakutia. Among them are Sergei Georgiyevich Levchenko, Vyacheslav Semyonovich Kulichkin, Ilya Pavlovich Sumorokov, Igor Sergeyevich Bugayenko, and Oleg Alexandrovich Pustovoy.
Vasilyev will compete against other party candidates in the upcoming election. His opponents include Pyotr Shamoyev from United Russia and Fedot Tumusov from A Just Russia. The current seat holder, Pyotr Ammosov, who won in 2021, has chosen not to run again.
Vasilyev’s official registration with Yakutia’s Central Election Commission will occur once the campaign period starts. The single-mandate race in Yakutia is now set. Vasilyev’s candidacy adds a new contender to the field. Official campaigning will begin in the lead-up to the September vote.
