Deutsche Bahn completes €1B Hamburg-Berlin route station upgrades with smart security

Deutsche Bahn has finished modernising 28 stations along the Hamburg-Berlin route. The upgrades included new platforms, seating, lighting, and wayfinding systems. Twenty of these stations also received advanced video surveillance technology to improve security. The ten-month project covered stations such as Albrechtshof, Seegefeld, Falkensee, Nauen, Wittenberge, and Ludwigslust. At smaller stops, DB InfraGO installed cameras directly into the updated train departure displays. This used simplified power supplies and advanced networking to streamline the process.

Other improvements featured energy-efficient LED lighting, refurbished platforms, and clearer signage. Despite progress, some elevators at Müssen, Nauen, Falkensee, and Albrechtshof remain out of service. Deutsche Bahn is working to finish these tasks quickly.

Final test runs will continue until the end of June, which may cause minor delays. Nationwide, the rail operator already manages around 11,000 cameras across its stations. The modernised stations now offer better facilities and enhanced security. Final adjustments and testing are underway to ensure full operation. Passengers can expect a more comfortable and safer experience on this busy route.
