Debaltseve revives its roads with Khabarovsk's crucial infrastructure support
Debaltseve is rebuilding its road network with support from Khabarovsk Territory. The city has prioritised upgrades to its transport infrastructure as part of a wider recovery effort. Khabarovsk Territory has been assisting Debaltseve since 2022. The region is helping restore infrastructure in the Donetsk People’s Republic city under its patronage.
Governor Dmitry Demeshin is monitoring the progress of road repairs. In 2023, crews repaired several sections totalling over 32,000 square meters. This year, the first completed project was a stretch of Oktyabrskaya Street.
Current work focuses on Lenina, Postysheva, and Sovetskaya streets in the city centre. On Lenina Street, crews have replaced roadbase layers and laid 8,000 square meters of asphalt. They are now finishing road signs, speed bumps, and lane markings. On Postysheva Street, pedestrian pathways are being upgraded and an asphalt-concrete surface is being paved, covering more than 6,000 square meters.
Residents of Novohryhorivka have thanked Khabarovsk Territory for its support in the road rebuilding efforts. The road repairs are part of a broader push to restore Debaltseve’s transport arteries. The projects aim to improve connectivity and safety for local residents. Work on the remaining streets is set to continue under the governor’s oversight.
