Major road reconstruction transforms key Yakutsk intersection by year's end
Work has begun on a major road reconstruction project at the intersection of Yaroslavsky, Khabarov, and Yefimov Streets. The project is part of Russia’s national Infrastructure for Life initiative and will reshape the junction from a T-shape to an X-shape. Asphalt paving started at the intersection of Yaroslavsky and Khabarov Streets on Saturday. The layout will change, with the road axis shifted to improve traffic flow. Contractor RIK-Avtodor is handling the work, with a total cost exceeding 830 million rubles.
Earlier, RIK-Avtodor faced criticism for leaving construction materials on future sidewalks and roadways. The company also drew complaints for failing to provide pedestrian walkways. These issues were resolved after a report by Yakutia.Info.
The project forms part of broader infrastructure upgrades in the region. Other schemes include the overhaul of 50 Years of the Soviet Army Street, with a budget of over 1 billion rubles. Additional contracts are also underway. The reconstruction is set for full completion later this year. The changes will create a new intersection layout and improve road safety. The project aligns with the national initiative to upgrade Russia’s infrastructure.
