Zero-emission trucks surge in 2025 despite lack of tax incentives

The US market for zero-emission trucks grew steadily in 2025, even without tax incentives. Deployments of these vehicles accelerated significantly in the latter half of the year, marking a notable shift in adoption rates. From July to December 2025, zero-emission truck (ZET) deployments nearly doubled compared to the first six months. During this period, ZETs accounted for 4.14% of all truck deployments nationwide. The percentage of zero-emission yard tractors in operation also rose to 3.21%.

By the end of the year, cumulative ZET deployments across the US had reached 72,309. California maintained its lead, with Florida and Texas also ranking among the top states for total numbers. New York and Pennsylvania tied for the second and third highest deployments in the latter half of the year.

The growth extended beyond leading states, as 22 regions now each have over 1,000 ZETs in operation. This expansion highlights a broadening adoption of zero-emission technology in commercial fleets. The data shows a clear upward trend in zero-emission truck adoption during 2025. With deployments rising even without financial incentives, the market appears to be gaining momentum. The figures confirm widespread and increasing use of ZETs across multiple states.
