Astana cracks down on 170 offenders in one-day sanitation blitz

Astana’s Prosecutor’s Office has launched preventive measures to stop violations of urban maintenance and sanitation rules. The crackdown aims to enforce legal standards and support the Clean Kazakhstan programme. Over 170 offenders were penalised in a single day for breaches ranging from illegal dumping to polluting public spaces. During recent raid operations, authorities identified and penalised more than 170 individuals. Many were fined for polluting public areas, violating urban upkeep regulations, or setting up unauthorised dumping sites. Two drivers in Nura District were caught using specialised vehicles to dump construction waste outside approved zones, detected with the help of drones.

The offenders now face administrative penalties. These include fines and the temporary confiscation of vehicle licence plates until payments are settled. Kazakh law clearly states that damaging infrastructure, littering, or breaking urban maintenance rules carries administrative liability. The Astana Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that efforts to maintain urban cleanliness will continue. Authorities remind the public to follow legal requirements and treat the environment with care. Compliance with these rules is essential for a well-maintained city and aligns with the Clean Kazakhstan initiative.
