Vladivostok races to upgrade 16 km of heating mains before winter

Vladivostok is pressing ahead with major upgrades to its heating network this year. The city plans to renovate at least 16 kilometres of heating mains, with work already underway at seven of the planned sites. Roman Chernyavsky, deputy head of Vladivostok’s city administration, recently inspected the progress of the overhauls. The project is currently around 40% complete.

On 40 Let VLKSM Street, repairs are divided into two phases. The first phase is set to finish by 22 July, with the second running from 23 July to 6 August. Over 500 metres of piping will be replaced here, along with upgrades to expansion joints and drainage channels.

Pushkinskaya Street presents a tougher challenge due to traffic and pedestrian coordination. Heating mains there are being replaced in two sections. Work near School No. 9 is ahead of schedule, while the second section should be mostly finished by mid-July.

Both Pushkinskaya and 40 Let VLKSM streets have needed repairs for years, with more than ten technical failures recorded in recent times. Each site will have landscaping restored after the work, with all repairs scheduled for completion before the next heating season begins. The city is moving forward with its plan to improve heating infrastructure. All upgrades are on track to finish before winter, ensuring reliability for residents. The project will cover at least 16 kilometres of mains by the end of the year.
