Yakutsk's Top Bus Drivers Compete for Prestige and Prizes

Yakutsk recently hosted a competition to crown the 'Best Bus Driver of Yakutsk' and the 'Best Urban Passenger Route'. The event aimed to recognise skilled drivers and improve public transport standards. Ten bus drivers took part in the contest for the 2023 title. The competition tested drivers on traffic regulations, practical skills, and vehicle maintenance. Each participant completed a 20-question test, with response times noted. They also navigated an obstacle course, where speed and precision affected their scores.

Judges examined the buses too, assessing 36 criteria such as cleanliness and equipment. The 'Best Urban Passenger Route' category will be decided based on passenger feedback, safety records, and schedule reliability.

The Municipal Public Institution 'Passenger Transport Organizer' and the Transport and Road Management Department arranged the event. Winners will collect cash prizes from Yakutsk Mayor Yevgeny Grigoryev. The contest seeks to raise the status of bus drivers and enhance service quality. Successful participants will be rewarded for their knowledge, skill, and dedication. The results are expected to encourage higher standards in Yakutsk’s public transport system.
