Omsk allocates 227M rubles to modernize public transport with new buses

The Omsk city administration has introduced new rules for subsidies aimed at renewing the city’s public transport fleet. Governor Vitaly Khotsenko has backed the allocation of over 227 million rubles for this purpose. The funding will support the purchase of 35 large-capacity buses for urban routes. The subsidies are designed to help carriers buy new buses under strict conditions. Applicants must run regular municipal routes and purchase vehicles from Russian manufacturers, with the buses no older than 18 months at delivery. Once acquired, the buses must remain in service for at least five years.

Carriers receiving subsidies will cover 142.5% of the subsidy value themselves. The selection of recipients will take place through a competitive process. If a subsidised bus sits unused for more than 30 consecutive days, part of the subsidy must be returned. Violations of the agreement terms will also require repayment. The new regulations aim to modernise Omsk’s bus fleet with 35 additional vehicles. The programme sets clear requirements for eligibility, usage, and repayment. The first subsidised buses are expected to enter service once the selection process concludes.
