Graduates of School No. 111 in Astana chose a different way to mark the end of their school years. Instead of a traditional prom, they organised a charity drive to support young patients in a local hospital. Their decision to give back to society was both deliberate and deeply meaningful. The students began by collecting gifts and toys for children undergoing treatment in the oncology ward. They carefully prepared gift boxes to bring joy to the young patients.
A motorcade of graduates and their parents then arrived at the medical centre. There, they held a special flash mob to inspire the children. Many carried signs with uplifting messages like 'You’re a Hero' and 'If I graduated today, you’ll graduate tomorrow'.
During the visit, the students distributed the gift boxes while following strict sanitary guidelines. Their effort was not the first of its kind in Astana, as Schools No. 5 and No. 101 have run similar campaigns before. The graduates replaced their prom with a day of kindness and encouragement. Their actions brought smiles to children facing difficult treatments. The charity drive also continued a growing tradition of community support in the city’s schools.
