EveyTrans halts electric bus deliveries over ₹15 lakh subsidy dispute with BEST
A dispute over subsidy payments has arisen between BEST and EveyTrans regarding a 2,100 electric bus contract. EveyTrans has already supplied 686 buses but has received subsidies for only 10 of them. The company now faces significant financial strain as a result. Under the 2,100-bus agreement, each electric bus includes a subsidy of ₹15 lakh. However, EveyTrans claims it has not received payments for most of the buses delivered so far. Due to this, the company has proposed halting further deliveries and starting a new schedule from August 2026.
The proposed plan involves delivering 50 buses per month initially, with the number increasing to 100 buses per month later. EveyTrans has also suggested using the existing charging infrastructure for both contracts to avoid extra costs. The company cited severe financial stress as the reason for its decision to pause deliveries.
BEST’s electric bus expansion relies on timely supplier deliveries. Any disruption could delay fleet augmentation. EveyTrans remains committed to resolving the issue and is in ongoing discussions with BEST. The subsidy dispute has already impacted EveyTrans’s operations. Without timely payments, the company’s ability to continue deliveries remains uncertain. Both parties are working to find a solution to keep the project on track.
