Hamburg extends subway hours for Germany's World Cup knockout clash

Hamburg’s public transport will run later for Germany’s first World Cup knockout match. Hochbahn has announced extended subway services until 3 a.m. to help fans travel home safely. Germany’s national team plays in Boston on Monday. The game may go to extra time or a penalty shootout, so it could finish late.

Subway lines U1, U2, and U3 will run every 20 minutes after the match. U3 between Barmbek and Mundsburg will operate every 10 minutes. Line U4 will not have extra service and will stop around 1 a.m. as usual.

Additional articulated buses will serve night route 613, increasing its frequency to every 15 minutes. Passengers can also transfer to bus line 25 at Winterhuder Marktplatz for connections to western Hamburg.

Fans can watch the match at public viewing events. Locations include Spielbudenplatz near the Reeperbahn and Landhaus Walter in Stadtpark. The extended transport services aim to support late-night travel for fans. Public viewing areas will be available across the city. Hochbahn expects higher demand due to the late finish and has adjusted schedules accordingly.
