Central Railway launches 12 new AC local trains from June 29, 2026
Central Railway will introduce 12 new air-conditioned local train services from Monday, June 29, 2026. The move aims to improve comfort for commuters on the Main Line. These changes will expand the network of AC suburban trains without altering the overall timetable. The updated schedule will convert 12 non-AC services into AC ones on the Main Line. This will increase the weekday AC services on this route from 80 to 92. Harbour Line services will stay at 28, bringing the total to 120 AC suburban trains on weekdays.
The new AC trains will run from Monday to Saturday, with non-AC versions operating on Sundays and public holidays. Several of these services will be available during morning and evening rush hours. They will connect major stations, including CSMT, Thane, Kalyan, Kurla, Ghatkopar, and Titwala.
The overall suburban timetable remains the same, with 1,820 weekday services unchanged. Central Railway expects the additional AC options to reduce crowding and encourage more passengers to choose air-conditioned travel. The revised timetable takes effect on June 29, 2026. It will offer more AC services while keeping the same frequency of suburban trains. Commuters can expect improved comfort and better travel options on busy routes.
