Sber Launches Digital Project to Honor Russia's Top Scientists

Sber has joined the Technological Legacy project, a new initiative to preserve the memory of Russia’s leading scientists. The project will use modern technology to create digital representations of researchers and their contributions to science and technology. The project gathers archival documents, photographs, publications and memoirs to build detailed digital profiles. Sber’s technologies, including the GigaChat neural network, will help develop these representations. Participants from regions such as Saratov, Ivanovo, Kursk, Novosibirsk, Tula, the Republic of Bashkortostan and St. Petersburg are contributing to the effort.

Experts will assess the depth of research, the volume of documents collected and each contributor’s role in preserving the legacy of the featured scientists. The team plans to create a virtual avenue of scientists and educational resources based on the materials gathered.

The results will be showcased at the closing event of the Strong Ideas for a New Era forum on 10–11 August in Nizhny Novgorod. Svetlana Chupsheva, Director General of ASI, highlighted the need to preserve the experience and memory of outstanding scientists for future generations. Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of Sberbank, sees the project as a way to make Russian scientific heritage more accessible through modern tools. The initiative aims to ensure these contributions remain available and recognised.
