Diamond drilling launches at Saskatchewan's Murmac Uranium Project
Diamond drilling has begun at the Murmac Uranium Project in northern Saskatchewan. The programme is part of a fully funded exploration effort targeting shallow, high-grade uranium mineralisation in a well-known district. Manhattan Uranium Discovery Corp is backing the work at Murmac and the nearby Strike project. Murmac lies on the northern edge of the Athabasca Basin, close to Uranium City. Past drilling at the site has already found shallow uranium linked to structured graphitic rocks. This confirms the potential for further discoveries in the area.
The current programme will drill around 5,000 metres across up to 25 targets. Work has started on 15 priority targets at Murmac. The selection of these targets was based on favourable conditions such as graphitic host rocks, electromagnetic conductors, structural settings, gravity lows, alteration, and uranium anomalies.
Drill hole M24-017 previously intersected 8.40 metres grading 0.30% U3O8. This included a higher-grade section of 1.20 metres at 1.79% U3O8, with individual assays reaching 13.80% U3O8 over 0.10 metres. The staged approach will first test priority targets at Murmac before shifting to Strike. This allows time to assess results and adjust plans for follow-up drilling if needed.
The programme covers both follow-up targets near earlier uranium finds and new, untested locations. Its goal is to identify and test shallow, high-grade basement-hosted uranium mineralisation. The drilling is now underway, with initial focus on Murmac’s priority zones. Results from the programme will guide further exploration at both Murmac and Strike. The fully funded initiative aims to expand understanding of uranium potential in this proven district.
