Magadan ends 2025–2026 heating season early amid rising temperatures

The 2025–2026 heating season in Magadan officially ended on 22 May 2026. The decision came after the average daily temperature stayed at or above +8°C for five consecutive days. Heating was switched off in the Sokol district once the threshold was met in the Aviatorov settlement. The inter-heating period in Magadan lasts three months. During this time, preparations for the next winter will begin. The Housing and Utilities Department is already getting ready by servicing 10 boiler plants, 11 central heating stations, and nearly 400 kilometres of heating networks.

Hot water systems will continue to run all summer. Brief shutdowns will only happen for scheduled maintenance. Pressure testing of outdoor heating networks in the central districts is planned for 1–3 July 2026. In the Sokol settlement, the same checks will take place earlier, from 17–19 June 2026. The heating season has now concluded across Magadan. Work is underway to ensure systems are ready for the 2026–2027 winter. Residents will experience minimal disruption as maintenance and testing proceed over the coming months.
