A former employee of Kazakhstan’s Government for Citizens Corporation has been convicted of defrauding 33 people in Almaty Region. The court found him guilty of embezzling a substantial sum between 2024 and 2025. The verdict is now final and cannot be appealed. The defendant promised victims assistance in purchasing land plots and legalising property documents. In return, he demanded payment. Over the course of a year, he took large amounts of money from 33 individuals.
During the trial, several victims asked the court for a lenient sentence. The defendant admitted his guilt and repaid most of the stolen funds. As a result, all civil claims from the victims were fully satisfied.
The court handed down a three-year prison sentence in a medium-security colony. Additionally, the convict was banned from holding public office or working in financial institutions and quasi-public sector entities. The ruling is now in effect. The former employee will serve his sentence and remains prohibited from certain professional roles. All financial losses to the victims have been covered.
