8 New Fast EV Chargers Installed In Kentucky

Kentucky adds two new fast-charging stations for electric vehicles

Kentucky is expanding its public electric vehicle charging network with two new fast-charging stations. The sites in Elizabethtown and Shepherdsville were recently installed, and fourteen more are currently under construction. Each station features four high-power charging ports to support long-distance EV travel. The Elizabethtown station is situated at 601 Ring Road, near Exit 133 of the Wendell H. Ford Western Kentucky Parkway. The Shepherdsville location is at 1090 Cedar Grove Road, off Exit 116 of I-65. Both sites were developed by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores, with Kim Okafor, director of strategic growth, stating the goal is to improve EV accessibility.

Each new station provides four 400 kW charging ports. These can charge a vehicle from 10% to 80% in approximately 35 minutes. The Team Kentucky EV Charging program completed its tenth fast-charging site one month ago, marking steady progress in the state’s infrastructure. Governor Andy Beshear emphasised that the network expansion aims to eliminate concerns about charging for families and businesses. The new stations and ongoing construction reflect Kentucky’s commitment to supporting long-distance EV travel. More fast chargers are still needed to meet growing demand.
