New UK Coalition Aims to Revolutionize Financial Inclusion for Vulnerable Groups
The Centre for Finance, Innovation and Technology (CFIT) has launched its fifth national Coalition. This initiative aims to create safer and more inclusive payment solutions for people who need support managing their money. The Coalition will bring together stakeholders to develop practical, scalable solutions. The Financial Inclusion Coalition will focus on building a trust and consent framework. It will also develop a proof of concept for supported payment journeys. The initial phase is funded by HM Treasury and targets people with learning disabilities.
CFIT will hold a workshop on 18 June 2026 to gather input for the Coalition’s delivery roadmap. Anna Wallace, CEO of CFIT, explained that the group seeks to address systemic gaps in the financial system by providing workable supported payment solutions. The new Coalition builds on Project Nemo’s earlier efforts to create a framework for vulnerable customers.
The Coalition will begin its work this summer. Rachel Blake MP, Economic Secretary to the Treasury, commended CFIT’s efforts in helping people manage their finances and secure a better future. The Supported Payments model could transform financial support across the UK. It aims to enable more individuals to handle their money safely and independently. The Coalition’s work is set to begin with concrete steps towards inclusive financial solutions.
