World of Warcraft created by an AI: Vibe-Coder creates playable MMORPG 'ClaudeCraft 5' for free

A developer has created a free, browser-based MMORPG called World of Claudecraft. The game was built in just two days using Anthropic’s AI model, Claude Fable 5, as a clone of World of Warcraft, which has been popular since 2004. The project cost the creator 91% of their $200 monthly allowance under Anthropic’s Max-20x subscription plan. It features nine classes, three zones, and a questline with 90 objectives, along with AI-generated narrative. Players can also take on 10-player raids after finishing the main story.

The game runs in a browser, both online and offline, and can be self-hosted. Its code is open-source, with the developer inviting contributions through pull requests on GitHub. However, critics note that the visuals and detail do not match World of Warcraft or other major MMORPGs. The code itself has also been described as chaotic. Despite its limitations, World of Claudecraft offers a free alternative to long-standing titles like World of Warcraft. The open-source nature allows others to refine and expand the game over time.
