Kazakhstan probes $29K embezzlement at state social service agencies

Authorities in Turkestan Region have launched an investigation into the embezzlement of public funds at two state-run social service providers. The institutions, Aialy Alaqan and Zhanarma in Saryagash District, are accused of misusing state money. A pretrial investigation is now underway under Part 3 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code. This covers misappropriation or embezzlement of entrusted property. Officials at the institutions allegedly worked with private entrepreneurs to falsify documentation for goods and services never delivered.

A forensic accounting audit revealed the scale of the fraud. Losses to the state amount to 13.3 million tenge, the equivalent of around $29,000. Investigative procedures are ongoing. The probe continues as authorities seek to recover the misappropriated funds. Those responsible for the falsified documentation and financial losses may face criminal charges under the Criminal Code.
