New Vityazevo interchange opens early to ease Crimean Bridge traffic
A new highway interchange near the village of Vityazevo has opened ahead of schedule. It forms part of the federal A-290 route connecting Novorossiysk to Kerch. The early opening aims to improve travel for residents and tourists alike. The interchange features eight exits and includes stormwater drainage and safety barriers. Work on lighting and noise barriers is still ongoing. It extends the Anapa bypass, which was completed in 2022.
This section is part of a larger project to reconstruct the A-290 highway. A four-lane road is planned to run from Novorossiysk to the Crimean Bridge, avoiding major populated areas. The full 52nd to 73rd kilometre stretch is set to finish by the end of the year.
The interchange is expected to reduce congestion toward the Crimean Bridge, Anapa, and nearby resort areas. It will also improve access to the airport. The new interchange is now in use, easing travel for drivers. Final touches, including lighting and noise barriers, will be completed soon. The project remains on track for full completion before the year ends.
