Astana cracks down on fire hazards in Saryarka district raids

A preventive fire safety inspection raid took place in Astana’s Saryarka district. The operation involved multiple agencies checking dormitories, private homes, and food service establishments. Over a hundred such raids have occurred in the area this year. The joint raid was carried out by the Committee for Emergency Situations, police, and the district akimat. Inspectors examined a barracks-style dormitory, focusing on evacuation routes, fire alarms, extinguishers, and electrical wiring. Violations found there must be resolved within 60 days.

Dozens of unscheduled checks also targeted facilities with past fire safety breaches. A private residential area was inspected after a complaint about stockpiled flammable materials. Two food service establishments were included in the operation.

In the private sector, houses are often built close together. This increases the risk of fires spreading quickly between properties. The raid aimed to improve fire safety across different types of buildings. Authorities have set clear deadlines for fixing identified issues. The inspections form part of broader efforts to prevent fire hazards in the district.
