Denver's Copper Kettle Brewing shuts down after 15 years of community impact

Copper Kettle Brewing in Denver has closed its doors after 15 years. The decision came as rising costs and falling revenues made the business unsustainable. The brewery was also unable to agree on a new lease with its landlord. The brewery played a key role in the Denver and Aurora communities. It hosted fundraisers, including one after the Aurora theatre shooting to honour Alex Teves, a friend killed in the tragedy. His mug, kept at the brewery, will now be given to his parents.

Owner Jeremy Gobien announced the closure on Saturday, the final day of operation. Despite the shutdown, he remains proud of the brewery’s long run and does not see it as a failure. He plans to keep brewing his well-known Mexican Chocolate Stout through a distributor after securing funds to restore the rented space. The closure ends a 15-year chapter for Copper Kettle Brewing. Gobien will continue producing his popular stout, ensuring the brand lives on. The brewery’s legacy in the community, including its charitable efforts, will be remembered.
