Base Network Faces Two-Hour Outage After Faulty Block Halts Transactions

Base, one of Ethereum’s busiest layer-2 networks, suffered a mainnet outage on 25 June 2026. The disruption halted transactions, deposits, and withdrawals for users. All funds remained secure throughout the incident. The outage began at 16:03 UTC and lasted roughly two hours. A faulty block triggered the problem, stopping the production of new blocks across the network.

Node operators were instructed to restart their systems to reconnect with the sequencer. Base confirmed block production and sequencing resumed at 18:03 UTC. This was not the first such incident, as a similar disruption had occurred in August 2025. The two-hour downtime highlighted ongoing reliability concerns for Ethereum layer-2 networks. Services returned to normal once the issue was resolved. The network confirmed no funds were lost during the event.
