Southern Russia faces fuel shortages as gas stations impose strict limits

Fuel shortages have disrupted gas stations across parts of southern Russia. Some stations in Krasnodar have introduced limits, only filling vehicle tanks. The situation varies between cities, with Sochi remaining unaffected.

As of 28 June 2023, more than 50 gas stations in Krasnodar were still operating. Among them, 41 offered AI-92 gasoline, 40 provided AI-95, and 41 sold AI-100. Diesel was available at 45 locations. However, 47 stations in the city had temporarily stopped selling fuel, and another 8 were closed for repairs or rebranding.

In Novorossiysk, 13 stations continued to dispense fuel but with strict limits. Drivers could purchase only 20, 50, 80, or 100 litres per vehicle. Meanwhile, in Temryuk District, 27 stations remained open, while 10 were temporarily shut down.

Sochi reported no disruptions. All 46 of its operational stations supplied AI-92, AI-95, and diesel without restrictions. The restrictions and closures have created uneven fuel access across the region. Krasnodar and Novorossiysk face the tightest controls, while Sochi maintains normal service. Officials have not yet announced when full operations will resume at affected stations.
