Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor launches May 3 with farmer-friendly land reforms

The Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor project is set to break ground on May 3, with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav leading the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony. The initiative promises to boost regional growth by developing a 20-kilometre stretch of land along a key roadway. Farmers involved in the project will now receive a larger share of the developed land as compensation, following recent government adjustments. The project spans over 1,300 hectares, focusing on a 300-metre zone on either side of a 75-metre-wide, 20-kilometre-long road. The total estimated cost stands at Rs 2,360 crore, with the first phase alone valued at Rs 326.51 crore. The ceremony marking the start of construction will take place at Sector A in Nanod at noon on May 3.

Farmers contributing land will now retain 60% of the developed area, an increase from the earlier 50%. This change, directed by Chief Minister Yadav, aims to provide them with better financial prospects through residential, commercial, or other economic uses. Officials from the district administration and the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) are actively engaging with landowners to explain these benefits. The corridor is designed to attract investment and create jobs by improving infrastructure and connectivity. Local youth are expected to gain employment opportunities, while the region as a whole stands to benefit from sustained economic growth.

The project’s first phase will begin after the Bhoomi Pujan on May 3, marking a key step in its development. With higher compensation for farmers and a focus on modern infrastructure, the corridor aims to drive long-term economic gains. The initiative also seeks to strengthen regional connectivity and open new avenues for investment and employment.
