Yakutsk City Administration Clarifies Mayor's Term Limits Amid Public Inquiries

The Legal Department of the Yakutsk City District Administration continues to receive questions from residents and the public regarding the term of office for the current head of the Yakutsk Urban Okrug. In response, the agency has issued an official statement.

Under current legislation and the municipal charter, the mayor's term expires on the uniform election day—the third Sunday of September 2026—when Russia's State Duma elections are also scheduled to take place.

Thus, the incumbent head of the municipality will retain their authority until that date, in accordance with legal procedures.

The Yakutsk City District Administration continues to operate as usual. Further updates on procedures related to the formation of local government bodies will be announced in due course.
