Yakutsk bus fares to climb again in 2026 amid economic strain

Bus fares in Yakutsk are set to rise again from January 2026. The latest increase follows a steady climb over the past two years, with cash tickets now costing 52 rubles. Mayor Yevgeny Grigoryev confirmed the change, citing economic pressures as the main reason In 2023, a single cash fare in Yakutsk was 40 rubles. By 2024, it had risen to 45 rubles, and this year it reached 52 rubles. From January 1, 2026, passengers will pay 58 rubles per trip—an additional 6-ruble increase.

The mayor’s office pointed to two key factors behind the decision. Fuel costs have jumped by 17% over the past year, pushing up operational expenses. Meanwhile, the Central Bank’s high key rate has made borrowing and maintenance more expensive for the city’s transport network. Despite the fare hikes, improvements are on the way. Yakutsk will receive 35 new Volgabus vehicles, all low-floor models with working air conditioning. The upgrade aims to make journeys more comfortable for residents

The fare adjustment will take effect in early 2026, bringing the cost to 58 rubles. The city has linked the rise to higher fuel prices and borrowing costs. At the same time, the arrival of new buses is expected to enhance service quality for passengers.
