Wolfsburg braces for summer roadworks with full closures and delays

Wolfsburg’s city administration has announced a series of major roadworks across several districts this summer. The repairs, scheduled during the school holidays, will affect key routes and residential streets. Some areas will face full closures, while others will see partial restrictions.

Work begins on June 15 with the construction of a new access road linking the Kästorf Volunteer Fire Station to Jembker Straße. A week later, on June 22, Rabenbergstraße will undergo a full reconstruction expected to last around 20 weeks.

From June 29, a 90-metre stretch of Forstweg in Sülfeld will be resurfaced. The following week, on July 2, repairs on Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße between Lessingstraße and Schachtweg will start, continuing until August 4. Around the same time, Zum Alten Bahnhof in Ehmen will be repaved from July 6 to approximately July 10. Meinstraße in Vorsfelde will then see renovations from July 20 to August 4. Meanwhile, Wettmershagener Straße in Sülfeld will be updated in two stages: a partial lane closure in August, followed by a full closure for about a week. The most disruptive project involves Section South 1 of the Alternative Green Route, which will require a complete shutdown of Nordsteimker Straße for the entire summer break. The affected districts include Sülfeld, Ehmen, Velstove, Vorsfelde, Nordstadt, the city centre, and Nordsteimke.

The roadworks will bring temporary disruptions to traffic flow in Wolfsburg. Residents and commuters in the impacted areas should plan for delays or alternative routes. The city administration has timed the projects to coincide with the summer holidays to minimise inconvenience.
