Vonovia's groundbreaking solar facade retrofit transforms Hanover housing without displacing residents

Vonovia has started its first serial retrofit of a residential complex in Hanover's Bothfeld district. The project introduces an innovative solar facade and a new window heating system while residents remain in their homes. Professionals can now register for a free on-site excursion to see the work up close.

The retrofit follows the energy-efficient approach, aiming for high energy efficiency without relocating residents. Once complete, the complex will meet the KfW Efficiency House 40 standard, a strict benchmark for low-energy buildings. This marks Vonovia's first such project management in Lower Saxony, with further pilot schemes planned for Hanover and Braunschweig by 2026.

The **'Energy Tour'** excursion offers a guided visit to the site. Attendees will explore the solar facade, window heating system, and other upgrades. Discussions on best practices and networking sessions are also part of the programme. Registration for the free event is open now. Participants will have the chance to speak directly with project stakeholders about challenges, solutions, and outcomes.

The Bothfeld retrofit sets a new standard for energy-efficient housing in Lower Saxony. Professionals attending the excursion will gain practical insights into serial retrofitting. The project's success could influence future developments across the region.
