Vladivostok sidewalk collapses near theater, sparking infrastructure concerns
A section of sidewalk near the Okean movie theater in Vladivostok has collapsed, raising concerns about underground infrastructure. The incident was linked to structural failures in the retaining walls, though an 110 kV power cable runs beneath the damaged area. Specialists from Primorsky Electric Networks (DRSK) quickly assessed the site and confirmed that their networks were not responsible for the collapse. The company immediately organised repairs to the affected pavement to safeguard its equipment and maintain the city’s power supply.
The 110 kV cable line beneath the sidewalk provides electricity to Vladivostok’s central district. To prevent future incidents, DRSK has proposed a joint inspection of the area with the city administration. The company has also expressed readiness to work with local authorities on long-term solutions.
Repairs to the damaged sidewalk have already begun to secure the power line and restore pedestrian access. DRSK’s cooperation with the city aims to address underlying structural issues and reduce the risk of similar collapses in the future.
