Vienna's HABS Gastronomie files for restructuring amid financial turmoil
HABS Gastronomie Betriebes GmbH, a Vienna-based company, has filed for restructuring proceedings without self-administration. The case was opened at the Vienna Commercial Court under docket number 3 S 43/26g after financial difficulties led to legal action from creditors. The company, located in Vienna's Leopoldstadt district, faced pressure after the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) filed an insolvency petition. The ÖGK claimed unpaid arrears amounting to €47,717, pushing the firm into legal proceedings.
The lease agreement for the company's premises, held with the police sports club, has now expired. This adds to the financial strain, as the debtor also holds disputed claims against the lessor. Despite the challenges, the restructuring plan aims for a 20 percent recovery rate. This would come from selling existing inventory. After debt relief, the company intends to operate a new restaurant profitably and repay creditors within two years.
The restructuring process will determine whether HABS Gastronomie can stabilise its finances. If successful, the company expects to generate the promised recovery rate for creditors by 2026. The outcome depends on resolving disputes with the lessor and securing future profitability.
