Vienna Police Arrest Three Teens Suspected of Breaking Into Cars in 21st District
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, Vienna police detained three teenagers suspected of breaking into multiple vehicles in the city's 21st district.
Officers were alerted to a noisy group in Mengergasse, Floridsdorf, at around 2:30 a.m. The youths fled when they spotted the police.
Near Schenkendorfgasse, the group split up and scattered in different directions. During the pursuit, one of the suspects discarded an object in a grassy area, which later turned out to be an emergency hammer. To halt the fleeing individuals, officers fired three warning shots into the ground.
Emergency Hammer, Cash, and Stolen Bank Card Recovered
After the chase, police apprehended three teenagers. In addition to the discarded emergency hammer, officers seized cash and a bank card not belonging to the suspects—items that may have been taken from the broken-into vehicles.
The detainees include a 15-year-old Syrian national and two 16-year-olds—one an Austrian citizen and the other of undetermined nationality.
