MBVV Police Crack Down On Illicit Liquor Units In Forest Raids After Pune Tragedy

Vasai police dismantle illegal liquor units in forest crackdown

Police have cracked down on illegal liquor operations in Vasai’s forest areas. Two manufacturing units were raided, leading to the seizure and destruction of contraband worth ₹1,69,350. The operations followed a recent toxic liquor incident in Pune that prompted stricter enforcement. The first raid took place in Pelhar, where officers seized materials valued at ₹1,07,300. A second operation in Virar confiscated additional supplies worth ₹62,050. Due to the difficult forest terrain, authorities destroyed the seized items on-site.

The raids were carried out by teams from Virar Crime Branch Unit 3 and Pelhar Crime Detection Branch. Assistant Sub-Inspector Shivaji Patil and Police Naik/Havaldar Sunil Patil led the operations. Liquor samples were collected for further investigation during the process. Two women were booked under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act in connection with the illegal activities. The MBVV Police Commissionerate initiated the crackdown as part of broader efforts to curb illicit liquor production.

The raids resulted in the destruction of contraband and legal action against those involved. Authorities continue to monitor the area to prevent further illegal liquor manufacturing. The operations form part of an ongoing push to enforce prohibition laws in the region.
