CM Yogi Adityanath Orders Uninterrupted Power Supply In UP Amid Record Heat

Uttar Pradesh braces for record heat with 24/7 power supply push

Uttar Pradesh is preparing for a scorching summer as temperatures rise and electricity demand hits record levels. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply across both rural and urban areas. The state’s peak demand recently reached 30,339 megawatts, making it one of India’s highest consumers of electricity. During a high-level review, Adityanath instructed authorities to maximise efficiency at all power generation units. The state’s total capacity now stands at 13,388 megawatts, with nearly 10,000 megawatts coming from non-conventional sources. To prevent outages, he also called for strengthening the transmission network, which currently spans over 60,858 circuit kilometres through 715 substations.

The Chief Minister emphasised the need for accurate billing, particularly for smart meter users. He also pushed for feeder-wise accountability and faster resolution of public complaints. Transparency in communication was highlighted as a key priority. With storms and strong winds expected, Adityanath ordered rapid response teams to stay on alert. He directed physical inspections of helpline call centres to improve grievance handling and service delivery. The state’s transmission availability is currently at 99.30 percent, but officials have been told to maintain high reliability during the summer surge.

The measures aim to prevent disruptions as Uttar Pradesh faces extreme heat and rising power needs. Officials have been tasked with ensuring quick repairs, clear billing, and better public support systems. The state’s electricity infrastructure will remain under close watch in the coming months.
