UrFU students submit 130+ projects to Russia's Student Startup competition
Students from the Ural Federal University (UrFU) have submitted over 130 projects to this year's Student Startup competition. The event, part of Russia's federal Technologies project, has drawn more than 170 entries from across the Sverdlovsk region. The number of UrFU teams competing for federal grants has doubled since last year. The competition evaluates projects across seven key areas of scientific and technological development. Among the submissions are innovations in fire suppression systems, unmanned vehicles, and AI applications for industry and social services. Many of the proposed solutions have already been recognised as know-how, adding to the university's intellectual property portfolio.
The top contributors from UrFU include the Institute of Physics and Technology, the Institute of Economics and Management, and the Institute of Radio Electronics and Information Technologies (IREIT-RTF). Semifinalists will soon present their work to a jury, which will determine the final winners. Each winning project will receive a grant of 1 million rubles.
The Student Startup competition continues to grow, with UrFU playing a leading role in fostering innovation. The selected projects will gain financial support to further their development. This year's increase in participation highlights the university's expanding focus on research and entrepreneurship.
