UAE fuel prices climb for fourth month as oil markets stay volatile

Fuel prices in the UAE will rise again in June, marking the fourth straight monthly increase. The cost of both Super 98 and Special 95 petrol is set to go up, following global oil market trends closely watched by motorists and traders alike. From June, Special 95 petrol will cost Dh3.83 per litre, an increase of 28 fils compared to May. Super 98 will rise to Dh3.95 per litre, up 29 fils. These adjustments reflect a one-month delay in how UAE fuel prices respond to international oil movements.

The latest hike is smaller than April’s sharp jump, when prices surged by nearly 50% from February levels. Brent crude, the global benchmark, averaged around $103 per barrel in May, despite dipping below $100 in late May to roughly $91. Oil markets remain sensitive to geopolitical tensions, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, where about 20% of the world’s oil and fuel supplies pass through. Prices have stayed high even after retreating from their peak. A potential US-Iran agreement continues to influence volatility, as traders assess its impact on supply and demand.

UAE drivers will now face higher costs at the pump for the fourth month running. The steady climb in fuel prices mirrors ongoing fluctuations in global oil markets, where geopolitical risks and supply concerns keep pressure on crude values.
