Tidewater Utilities expands with Pinewood Acres water system takeover
Tidewater Utilities, Inc. (TUI) has acquired the Pinewood Acres water system in Delaware. The acquisition, approved by the state's Public Service Commission, will serve 360 customers in the community. Company leaders have promised a seamless transition for residents.
The deal was finalised on 30 January 2026, transferring ownership of Pinewood Acres' water assets to TUI. The subsidiary of Middlesex Water Company has operated in Delaware for over 60 years, managing 172 wells and 85 treatment plants across 480 communities.
Pinewood Acres Management welcomed the change, citing expectations of better reliability and service under TUI. Residents will receive details by post, with further updates available at www.TUIWater.com.
Bruce E. Patrick, TUI's president, reassured customers that transparency and smooth operations remain the company's focus. Middlesex Water, TUI's parent, has provided water and wastewater services to over half a million people in New Jersey and Delaware since 1897.
The acquisition expands TUI's reach in Delaware, adding Pinewood Acres to its existing network. Customers will now access the same infrastructure and support systems used by 62,000 others across the state. The transition follows regulatory approval and aims to enhance service quality for the community.
