Swiss Air Lines welcomes second Airbus A350 with new Zurich-Montreal route

Swiss International Air Lines has expanded its fleet with a second Airbus A350, named Delémont. The aircraft marks another step in the airline's long-haul modernisation, with ten A350s on order. Its first passenger flight is set for February 23, flying from Zurich to Montreal.

The newly delivered A350 will begin commercial service later this month. On February 23, it will operate its maiden passenger route, connecting Zurich with Montreal. This follows the airline's broader plan to refresh its long-haul operations.

Later this year, Swiss will also upgrade the cabins of its existing Airbus A330 fleet. While details on the specific changes remain undisclosed, the retrofits aim to enhance passenger experience. The airline has not yet revealed what improvements will be introduced.

From summer 2026, the A350 will extend its reach to additional destinations. Routes to Boston and Seoul will join the network, increasing the aircraft's role in Swiss's long-haul schedule.

The arrival of Delémont brings Swiss's total A350 fleet to two, with eight more expected. The airline's investment in modern aircraft signals a push for efficiency and updated passenger services. The A330 upgrades and new routes will further shape its long-haul strategy in the coming years.
